What ICTs we will use

  • Pre-writing motivator/hand warm-up.  Students progress at their own pace through levels building in complexity as they "Squish the Squash", "Pinch the Pepper", and "Trace and Erase".   You may view the range of Dexteria apps for iPads here

A variety of technologies will be used in the classroom each day.  These may be used to introduce new concepts, give instructions, provide opportunities to rehearse new skills, share experiences and build success.

An example - If your beautiful girls show an interest in animals and pets, we could do a unit of work on this topic. I would incorporate this theme across many subject areas using a variety of ICTs to enhance and support learning.

To make learning motivating and fun we will use:

  • To introduce topics.  If you wish, listen to this beautiful reading of Harry the Dirty Dog

  • View images of animals/pets

  • Animations of topic eg. counting songs like Five Little Monkeys, Ten in the Bed

  • Pet clips on YouTube about caring for pets

  • Visual timetable

  • Gonoodle.com for movement breaks

  • Display student images to make a class story book

Interactive Whiteboard

  • Additional apps used - colour/shape recognition, sequencing/ordering, patterning, topic craft activities

Digital cameras

  • Photograph class activities and processes to complete tasks (use for sequencing, personal story books and writing activities)

iPads

To foster communication development

  • Use IWB to demonstrate understanding

iPads

  • Use communication apps (specifically Proloquo2go) to greet, make requests and choices when interacting with others in the classroom.  For optional reading, find out about Proloquo2go here
